The Zenith range from Vango is like the Swiss Army Knife of sleeping bags. The 200 model has a 2 season rating which is ideal for UK use in Spring and Summer but this bag is ideal for travelling the world with its anti-mosquito treatment.
Sometimes it can be difficult to have much to say about sleeping bags but not with the Zenith range. Vango have taken the key features of the previous Planet range and combined them with the Latitude to create a sleeping bag that offers load of technical features and add-ons that make it suitable for a range of camping and travel activities.
Vango Shield Protection
The Zenith 200’s outer and inner shell has been treated with Vango’s shield treatment that offers a number of protections from insects, mould and bacteria. The bag helps protect from mosquitoes and other biting insects as well as other crawling bugs you don’t want to find in your bag. The treatment also inhibits the growth of mould and odour causing bacteria so it’s great for longer treks or backpacking adventures.
Integrated Mosquito Nets
The hood of the sleeping bag contains a mosquito net which covers the top opening of the bag. Although the net can be worn whilst sleeping it’s also ideal to leave zipped up whilst you leave camp for the day knowing insects and other unwanted guests won’t make home in your bag for your return. It can also be completely zipped out and removed if not required and includes a handy insulated baffle which sits over the half zipper that is left in the hood. There is also a fixed mosquito net in the base which protects your feet in case you need to open the base zipper to let additional ventilation into the bag. When opening the bag fully this net can be zipped open to allow the Zenith 200 to be used as a blanket.
Recycled Ultralite Polyester Materials
This bag uses Vango’s new Polair® Z fabric which is recycled polyester and is designed to be ultralite with it’s 50D 300T construction. The diamond ripstop weave on the outer shell adds durability to the bag without adding much additional weight. The Insulite Helix Fill is also made from recycled materials giving this bag great eco-credentials.
How it Keeps You Warm
Thermal Embrace – The zenith range include Vango’s thermal embrace system which is included on other technical bags in their range including the Microlite 200. By stitching elasticated fibre into the internal section at the top of the bag it gently embraces the user reducing any air gaps. This greatly increases the thermal efficiency of the bag and reduces any cold spots that can develop.
Shoulder & Zip Baffles – A well insulated and adjustable shoulder baffle is included to stop airflow through the top of the bag and a zip baffle stops draughts from passing through the zipper. A fully adjustable 3D hood has two different thicknesses of cord so you can easily adjust around your head even in the dark.
Insulite Helix Eco Fill – combines recycled traditional single hole hollowfibre with multi-channel hollowfibre to create a bag that feels padded but also has a high loft ability. The multi-channel fibres also help draw moisture away from the body and out of the bag.
Other Key Features
Diagonal Full Length 2 Way Zipper – the unique and stylish diagonal zipper stretches all the way around the bag meaning you can use the Zenith as a blanket in warmer climates.
Internal Pocket – ideal for storing your valuables, car keys or a small torch for night time emergencies
Reversible Fleece Lined Stuffsack – the inside of the compression sack is lined with fleece so you can turn inside out, stuff with a jumper and use as a no fuss pillow.
